1971 Brazilian Folk Art Carved Wood Panel by the artist Lucasi
This slim, wide single hardwood panel depicts a scene from Pelourinho, the centre of Salvador de Bahia, and the name of the artist ‘Lucasi’, is carved on the back, along with its date and location. Lucasi continued producing his distinctive folk art carvings well into the 1980’s, and this is a fine example of his skill as an artisan craftsman.
