Ewart & Son Victorian Copper Roof Ventilator
This highly innovative Victorian-era ventilator was made by the prestigious Ewart & Son, a London-based metalworking and manufacturing company who designed the roofs of Buckingham Palace and the Bank of England. Founded in 1834, they are well-known for pioneering the use of copper as a roofing material.
This particular ventilator, produced between 1870 and 1892, is a prime example of their highly creative and original style. It is reputed to have been removed from the stables of Sandringham House during its refurbishment, and is presented in very good overall condition, commensurate with its age and purpose, including its patination and charming layer of Verdigris. It ultimately remains in a sound and serviceable state, should you wish to return it to its former lofty purpose.
