Sterling Silver Napkin Rings by S Blanckensee & Son LTD (6)
A beautiful set of 6 sterling silver napkin rings, made by the renowned jewellers and silversmith, S Blanckensee & Son LTD, bearing rare Chester hallmarks and dated 1913.
Presented in their original wooden presentation box, lined with blue baize and satin. The box shows signs of its age, by way of various scuffs and the missing catch on the lock, but is otherwise in sound condition.
The napkin rings themselves are in excellent condition, wonderfully engraved with an attractive floral design, the plaques remain monogram free.
Solomon Blanckensee, an èmigrè of Prussia, originally founded his business in 1826 in Bristol, before moving to the hub of jewellery manufacturing, Birmingham.
With the death of Solomon in 1863, his sons, Abraham and Aaron, took over the business and continued through to the 1940’s.
