Vintage Zebra Hide Safari Stools by Zimmerman

These authentic safari stools trace their origins back to the mid-20th century, when they were created by Zimmerman Limited, a renowned taxidermy specialist based in Nairobi, Kenya which operated from 1929 to 1977. Crafted in a British colonial style, they feature triangular zebra hide seats, supported by ebonised wooden tripods with chromed feet. Showing a few patches of wear on their top sides, they possess a lovely patina consistent with their age.

Of particularly endearing note, the founder of Zimmerman Limited, renowned taxidermist Karl Fritz Paul Zimmerman, would later be honoured by having the neighbourhood of Zimmerman, Nairobi named after him. The neighbourhood today is a mixed-use residential area, and is renowned for its affordability for students and working-class families alike.
