WW2 RAF Fighter Aircraft Camera Type G45

This machine gun camera was originally created by the Williamson Manufacturing Company, which operated from 1908 to 1979 and was particularly renowned for its production of reconnaissance cameras, as exemplified by this well-preserved model. Constructed out of steel and aluminium, it is a spitfire/hurricane type that was used in RAF fighter aircraft during WWII, created as a means to preserve evidence of casualties inflicted on enemy targets.

It still retains its original photographic magazine over 80 years later, and is a reminder of the important role that private, independent businesses played in securing Britain’s victory in the war.
